Maintenance Technician – Selma

Categories: Manufacturing/Production Skilled TradesSpecialty Minerals Inc., an international, research-based, mining, minerals and chemical company, has an opening for a full time Maintenance Technician at its plant in Selma, AL. The plant is on the site of the International Paper mill and manufactures a raw material used in their paper making process.The successful candidate will be responsible for repair and maintenance for the entire facility including: calibration and troubleshooting of process instrumentation, repair/replacement of valves, piping, pumps, motors, and maintaining a computerized maintenance management system (DataStream). This individual will also be responsible for learning the manufacturing process and working as an operator as needed. The ideal candidate will also have some experience with Microsoft application software (e.g. Excel and Word) and be computer literate. This plant is operated by a self-directed work team in Flexible Operations mode. The successful candidate will earn pay increases in up to four increments under our skill based pay system. EOERequirements:A strong background in mechanical required and electrical/instrumentation would be a plus, a desire to learn operations. A working knowledge of process control systems and repairs would be a plus. Availability to travel is required.Several years maintenance experience working in a similar environment is desired. The plant is a continuous operation requiring occasional overtime and call-ins.
